I often comment on FaceBook what Becke is eating and others write back that she is eating better than what they are having for meals. So I though I would give you a peak into Becke's meals.
Many years ago I was introduced to this book.
It changed my life and the way I look at dog food. Spoiler alert, it will make you sick what is in dog food.
So began my search for better food for my dogs. I started with this book.
and added a few more.
And created some of the meals that Becke now eats. Here is one page from the above book "Home Cooking". Click on it to make it bigger to see how easy this meal really is.
She really likes it when the pots and pans come out. She does eat well and her blood work so far shows that she is very healthy (but yes, overweight) So we are cutting back on the size of each meal.
I have also added Honest Kitchen food as well. This is dehydrated grains, vegetables, fruits, and beef (Human grade) which I rehydrate and add extra meat, real meat, human grade meat. This goes in her evacuation kit (e-kit) as well.
Once you get a rhythm you can make meals for a week in about 30 minutes. I freeze everything but 2 days worth and just take them out as I need them. She eats 2 times a day.
So, how do you spoil your 4 legged friend(s)?
I can't say that our cats eat this healthy.

I've got the Pitcairn book and before I got Remy I started reading "Food Pets Die For". I have to stop and put it down regularly because it makes me sick to read this book. It's made me more vigilant about what I'm feeding my new puppy.
ReplyDeleteFeeding raw is still not something I'm ready to commit to, but have been thinking about it much more with Remy. Until then, I've found some great canned food (called Wellness 95%)with very few ingredients and no by-products. Remy's doing well on it which I add to his Solid Gold kibble.
When we make chicken or salmon and rice, that's what Remy gets for dinner. He loves it and is developing a good appetite.
He also gets Wellness Pure training treats and some plain cottage cheese on occasion. Some other training treats I give him are real chicken breast, cheddar cheese, and dehydrated lamb lung (yum!)
I can tell you mine doesn't eat as well as yours. You have one lucky dog!

Well, yes, of course I spoil my dog, LOL. But you want to know how? Not by cooking like you do for Becke, I think that is neat what you do by the way! I do make chicken for him (plain that I boil). I know commercial dog food is awful, so it is good you take the time to do what you do for Becke!!
