Recipe of the week: Cabbage and Sausage

Remember when I "seasoned" the dutch oven ? Well, I got to use it this weekend when I made this dish for us on Saturday.  It's also very low on calories so if you are watching those, this dish is also good for you.  I really like cabbage so I got out the dutch oven and started cooking.

1 pound of ground sausage (Italian or Sweet sausage works best)
6 Radishes
1/2 cup of diced tomatoes
1 small onion
1/2 head of cabbage, sliced thin
2 cups chicken broth
salt and pepper to taste ( I use sea salt)

Cook the ground sausage, radishes tomatoes, and onion in the dutch oven and drain off the fat.  Put this mixture back in the dutch oven and add the cabbage and the chicken broth. We had a roasted chicken a few weeks back and I made my own broth from that so if you use something else, add in those carbs/calories.  Let it simmer for a while while you clean the house or read a book and enjoy.  This is something you can also start on the stove and then transfer to the crock pot to cook all day while you are away.

This made 6 servings at 5 Net Carbs each or, if your counting calories 274 calories per servings.  What did you make this weekend?
