I'm always amazed by the panic that sets in when the weather gets bad. The stores run out of batteries, peanut butter and bread. I don't mean to say don't be ready, you should have a least 3 days of food and water for each member of your home including pets. Have a battery radio, have your cells all charged and generators ready to use if you have them. Don't forget candles or oil lamps ready to use and some games or a few good books to read.
However does anyone really need 12 jars of peanut butter and jelly! By all means remember that if you need to leave because you are in the path of Irene, so do your pets. Take them with you!
So be safe all and Lord willing I'll see you all Monday. I hope we all have funny stories about what we did during Irene.
Be safe!
ReplyDeleteStay safe! I'm hoping she slows down as she heads our way!
ReplyDeleteOh please stay safe.
ReplyDeleteIt's easy for those of us inland to lose sight of what's ready at stake with Irene. It's not just cancelled/postponed/rearranged vacations or plenty of rain. I'm praying for all of those affected along the east coast.
I don't know if it's been done in the past or if Katrina changed things, but I do notice that more of the warnings now include advice to be mindful of family pets when making emergency preparedness plans.
I'm praying that Irene's wrath will lessen as she makes her way up the coast. It would be great if her bark was worse than her bite.
ReplyDeleteWhy DO people "hog" up all of the supplies in case of an emergency??? I always amazes me.
We delayed our Fla. beach plans by a day, but we're still headed south for the weekend.
Stay safe and dry.
Here in western NC, we're not even forecast for rain this weekend, much less Irene, which I'm grateful for.
ReplyDeleteWith several days' warning about this storm, I also don't understand the panic runs to the store. We've gotta be prepared to hunker down for the worst. Then pray for the best.
I hope you and yours will be safe, Lynn Marie! Thinking of all of you on the East Coast and hoping for the best.
ReplyDeleteGreat reminder about keeping pets safe, too. Take care!!
Keeping you and everyone in the path of Irene in my prayers. ((HUGS))
ReplyDeleteThank you for the reminder about pets.
ReplyDeleteWe have a dog named Katrina. We rescued her from Mississippi when we went there 3 weeks after the hurricane to help with clean up. She is the only survivor of a litter of 6 that was left behind in the storm. She is a constant reminder to us that all preps need to include our pets.
We are 20 miles west of the evacuation zone here in NJ.
Take care of yourself. We'll get through this!
