For a 2 1/2 week old, I'm doing well. I say that because my immune system is only 21/2 weeks old since I had to grow it from scratch for Harvesting. I try to rest a lot and am working part time (mostly from home). I enjoy working but I find that it takes a lot to get ready to leave the house so working from home allows me to stay in my pj's and not worry about make up. That saves me time and energy that I can then use sitting at the computer working.
My RSV (baby cold) is better but I do have a "Baker's Cyst" behind my left knee so my left leg is swollen and often hurts like mad. Tylenol is my new friend and I have a cane that helps me walk. Working with dogs is fun because they have a new thing to get use to. They adapt to the cane easily.
Here is a photo of me as a baby about a few months old. I am more bald now as I was back then!! It was cute then, not so much now. These photos are really old and not very well cared for but they are still photos of me.
Here I am with my mother a young bald baby!
And one more of me in the high chair at one year old, see, still not much hair!! I hope it doesn't take as long as back then to grow hair this time around. I was told once that I was about 2 1/2 before I got my first hair cut.
In the mean time if we go out, I wear my hot red hair.
Around the house I wear a hat to keep my head warm (plus you can't sleep in a wig)
But I have as much hair now as I did at 2 weeks of age. It's a reminder to myself that I am very much starting over again.
I debated over posting this photo for a long time. It's not easy for me to look at myself in the mirror or take a photo of myself and then post it. But I do post it.
I post this photo for 2 reasons,.
(1) I want to show Cancer that it didn't win! I did. It may knock me down but I will stand up again and carry on. God has given me the strenght to stand up and carry on.
And
(2) For anyone that has to have this happen to them, I want you to know - it's OK. You are more than what is on your head. You will find out just how strong you are and you will learn that Cancer is not for wimps. Stand in the mirror and remind yourself that you are more than your hair and you are stronger than you believe you are. You Are A Winner.
So How Am I?? I Am Perfect!! I am just what God wants me to be!! How Are You?
Lynn Marie...I just want you to know how much I admire your courage. What an inspiration you are to so many! You are beautiful, with or without hair. Love your "red hot" hair, by the way! I think, as women, we often let our hair define who we are...and we're so much more than that. I wish you only the very BEST as you continue to kick cancer's booty! Praying for you!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much April for your kind words and for your prayers.
DeleteYay for you! The changes that come with cancer are hard. I am happy to see your great attitude shine through.
ReplyDeleteLove your red hair, love your hat and love you bald. You are beautiful because you are God's child and it just shines all through you in those pictures!! Still praying for you.
ReplyDeleteThank you Cathy for all your prayers. I still am because God still is...
DeleteAs a follower on your FB page, I know that this last month has been such a HUGE journey for you! And you NEVER complain!! I admire your spirit so much!! I think you look just beautiful hair or not! Many more prayers to you!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Liz, it has been a odd journey. Thank you so much for your prayers.
DeleteCathy took the words right out of my mouth! They're so good they warrant repeating:
ReplyDeleteLove you in your red hair!
Love you in your hat!
Love you bald!
You are beautiful, whether in your FABU red hair or your bald dome.
I'm grateful you've kicked cancer's a** and are fierce, fabulous, and still funny sending these great pics.
And yes, cancer is the biggest loser because you are a WINNER!
You rock, girlfriend!
Anu, As always, you make me feel good so thank you. It's hard to decide to post such a photo or not but I did and I'm gald that I did. If it helps others, it was worth it.
DeleteGood for youy for posting the picture of you now, both with and without wig. I did like your baby pictures too. I think it will be interesting to see how and when your hair grows back in. I know several people who have said their hair grew back in a different color, or curly when they had straight hair before, etc.
ReplyDeleteYou have a great attitude and the right attitude about your cancer!
betty
Betty, Posting the photo was not one I took lightly, it was hard but I've received nice comments on it both here and in person. I've heard that the hair grows back differently. I'm wondering what it will be like.
DeleteHair or no, you are a strong beautiful woman ... such an inspiration. I continue to pray for you.
ReplyDeleteAnd the winner is.... Lynn Marie! I am so very glad and thankful that you are beating this. Going through all the cancer stuff and I know first-hand. But you are going to be fine with God by your side. It was very courageous to print the picture of you without hair. But hair does not make us who we are. As the others said, you are beautiful no matter what is on your head. Still praying for you my friend.

You are so brave and I love that you shared your bald head with me. You are so beautiful. I do love your hot red hair!!
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to hear you are still in remission. Hard to imagine starting your immune systems from scratch. So sorry about your knee. Please take it easy. Keeping you in my prayers.
Hugs,
Debby
