I could use an entire week to play catch up but I'll just give you the highlights of what has been happening around here. Needless to say, I feel like the photo above.
- Last Wednesday I saw the surgeon who put my nose back together. He was well pleased with his work and told me that it was still swollen - which I knew as my glasses are still tight and feel heavy by the end of the day. Another 4 weeks before all that swelling goes down but it works very well and I am very pleased at the look. It's my nose, no new nose here so I look the same. My black raccoon eyes are gone now as well.
- I'm back to work full time. However, I tend to crash once I'm home. I either fall asleep before dinner, or right after dinner so I wake up, change, and go to bed. I joined a Multiple Myeloma online group and with the small population on it, they are surprised that I am back full time already as many of them still hadn't returned part time 8 weeks after harvesting. I went back 6 weeks after harvesting- very part time and each week added a few more hours. A few were working part time at 8 week but only a very small group were back full time. I wanted to get back to "normal" as soon as possible so I pushed to get there. Now to get back to normal here at home.
- Our oldest granddaughter is now 5 years old and we had a blast at the house party. Our daughter and son-in-law did a great job at the party. He grilled out in 20 degree temps. The house lost power for about an hour so the lanterns came out and the party continued. Earlier in the day, there was a play party at a local indoor playground for kids for school mates and cousins. What a long day for all of them. We are so proud of our kids and the parents they are.
- I spent one Saturday teaching Pet CPR/1st aid to a group of grooming students. They had lots of question and we took a bit of time practicing CPR over and over again until they felt ready to do it for real. It was a long day, but well worth it.
-So life is returning to "normal" what ever "normal" means these days. I have blood work today and see my Oncologist this Thursday. For those of you who pray, please pray for good results and that I am still in remission. Most days I start out strong but by the afternoon I am weak and by evening, I'm just limp and crawl into bed praying for energy. My emotions are still like a roller coaster which makes living with me hard on Hubby. He is a saint for putting up with my ever changing moods.
So finding time to type up a blog post falls to the weekend when I have a bit of time left over before I sleep. Thank you for checking in with me. I so appreciate that gesture. We are moving towards "normal".
I'm glad to hear that you are succeeding in your push to get back to normal as quickly as possible. Do you think working full time is contributing to the exhaustion by evening? That perhaps dropping back on your hours a little might help you get to the end of the day with a little more energy? Just a thought. Continuing to pray that you will get good results and that you are in remission.
ReplyDeleteKathy, I'm sure you are correct but somehow cutting back feels like defeat. At this point, I just can't bring myself to that. Thank you for your continued prayers.
DeletePraying for you LynnMarie. I've been there and understand. You are doing a lot. I feel like you do, energy in the morning, by two o'clock really tired, crawling into bed. It takes a lot to get through a day and I think you are doing marvelous. Better than I.
ReplyDeleteThank you Kathy for the prayers.
DeletePrayers will certainly continue!! It was good to catch up with you news, but like everyone else, I say slow down a bit and take care of yourself, first!! Give your body time to bounce back. Love & hugs!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Terri for the prayers, love and hugs. Slow is not a speed that I've ever learned so it's hard but I guess God wants me to learn it because He keeps giving me reason to practice it!!
DeleteDealing with your moods is a small bump in the road of our lives. Not a problem at all! I love you SWMBO!
ReplyDeleteMy mood swings is SMALL! it sure doesn't feel that way from this side. Thanks love.
DeleteI enjoyed 'catching up' with you! Glad your nose is healing, and that you are feeling well enough to try getting back to normal. Just remember to take care of yourself, as you jump back into life :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Kathy, I do try to care for myself but I admit that I'm pretty tired at the end of the day and bubble bath is about all I can look forwarded to.
DeleteSo glad to see this update. I agree with those who say you should take it a bit easier. I know that's a tough concept for you, but we're not spring chickens any more and our bodies need more R and R to bounce back than when we were those spring chicks. The only thing qualifying for a defeat is the cancer you beat.
ReplyDeletePrayers for you have never stopped. Will double up on those for a good report card from your oncologist.
Hope you're planning something wonderful for your big birthday this Thursday (besides your doctor's visit). Get ready to kiss your 50s buh bye!
Leaving the 50"s behind is hard my friend! WOW the number 60 feels so huge! I know you have been through this as you are OLDER than me but wow! Thank you for the prayers from the Southern Team, I count on them a lot. Now if only they would all send some nice warm temps up our way.....
DeleteYou have been so busy. Glad your nose is healing well. Also happy to hear that you are feeling well and back to work sooner than others. Sounds like a fun party for your 5 year old granddaughter. Take care and God bless.
ReplyDeleteThe party was really fun and even if they did loose power, the kids didn't care and the party just continued on.
DeleteContinued prayers friend! So glad the swelling is going down, and the racoon eyes are gone! Happy early Birthday!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the prayers and the early Happy Birthday.
