Hodgepodge Time agian!!

Thank you Joyce for the questions again and I can't believe that we all are zooming in on 200 hodgepodges!  Join in on the fun.

1. Do you manage your own money or do you have a financial planner who helps in some way? Do those kinds of conversations stress you out? A lot or a little?

We manage our own money and yes conversations about money always stress me out, a lot.  I hate to hear that we something that broke or gave out and we have to replace/repair it.  That ends up being money we had planned for something else.

2. The second week of October is Pet Peeve Week. Off the top of your head, share TWO of your current pet peeves.

People who cut me off without even so much as a blinker to warn me that it's about to happen.

3. What is one thing you'd like to learn right now, this very week if you could?

How to groom my own dog, August.  He is a great dog and I would like to know how to shave his face like his groomer does. Or he ends up looking like this photo above.

4. How concerned are you about the recent health related news concerning Ebola? How about Enterovirus D68?

Not concerned at all.  Now that I'm living with Cancer, everything else seems small somehow.  If I catch something, my doctor's are right on top of it and I know that in the end God is in control.

5. Garfield, Nemo, or Tigger-your favorite orange cartoon character?Tigger is my favorite orange cartoon.

6. I'm going to see Gone Girl with my neighborhood book club this week. So often books made into film are disappointing. What's a book turned film you thought was well done, in that the casting was 'like you pictured' when you read the book, and the film plot remained mostly true to the book plot? The early Harry Potter movies.  I really liked how the casting  matched the book and the plots in the movie were as I saw them in my mind as I read the books.

7. What is one story your family always tells about you? Most of my family is gone so there is not a story that I can remember them telling about me.  Sorry.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Last week, Hubby and I went on vacation.  It was our first vacation in 3 years.  It was so nice and relaxing.  I've been showing pictures and telling stories about on this blog this week.  Living in New Hampshire one thing we do have is lots of pretty colored trees this time of year.  People coming from all over the country just to see out trees.  What a great vacation we had.  Then again, anytime I get to relax with this guy I'm thrilled!!  I so love this man. What fun we have whenever we are together.

  1. I wish I knew how to groom our dog, too. Whenever I try, she wiggles like crazy and ends up looking like she just went through a meat grinder. So happy you and your hubby had a fun vacation together!

  2. Glad you enjoyed your vacation. Hubby and I are visiting our daughter and thoroughly enjoyed driving down and seeing the changing leaves. I have started a meme on Mondays called Memory Monday and would love to have you join in. You have lots of wonderful memories.

  3. I love hearing a woman say good things about her husband. So many just complain. Glad it was an enjoyable vacation.

  4. Hubs can more or less groom our dog, but we still get her professionally cut periodically. He trims her toes and 'beard' and she has 'feathers' so must be brushed regularly too. We mostly leave her back to the groomer. So glad you had a wonderful vacation!

  5. I agree, grooming a dog would be a great skill to learn, especially when one owns a long-haired dog!
So glad to hear that you and hubby had a nice vacation! It's a wonderful time of the year for it.
I agree, when dealing with cancer, almost everything else seems small...

  7. People do not follow the rules anymore driving. I use my blinker even when no one is around. I'm glad you went on vacation. I have your post in my Feedly and plan on reading it and looking at your pictures.

  8. I love the looks of long haired dogs and grooming them has always been a pleasure (not a chore) for me. That said, as good as I've gotten, nothing beats the results a good professional dog stylist can create.

Luckily, I don't have to shave Remy's face, but since he's too fearful to leave with a groomer, I've had to learn how to bathe and condition his coat. The combing out I got down pat from years of brushing my Eskie. But I never had to bathe her - that I left to the pros.

With Remy, since I'm on my own grooming him, I've also had to learn how to trim the hair on his feet and in between his pads.

Don't want to use an electric clipper so I use very blunt tipped scissors and go very, very slowly. After years of snipping off a tiny bit at a time, Remy now tolerates my foot trimming. His feet look better and better the more experienced I get, and the more comfortable Remy becomes with this routine.

As for his nails, I leave that up to the vet's office who do a great (and fast) job of that every six weeks or so. I know my limits, and I don't want to push Remy further than I have to.

Long haired dogs are definitely higher maintenance, but boy, are they pretty when they're kept well. Your sweet little August is a great breed example of Powder Puff Chinese Cresteds and you do your own high maintenance boy proud!

  9. I agree with you...learning to groom my dog would be a good thing too. I didn't think about the Harry Potter books, but you are right. The movies really do follow the books pretty well.

So glad you and your hubby had such a great vacation. I feel the same way about my hubby...anywhere I am with him, I am happy.

    Have a great weekend!!
