Seeing all the Blessings- Sometimes it's not Easy

On Monday I wrote you all telling you that I was sick and would be back soon. You all were so kind and wonderful to me. Some offered advice about tea with honey and crackers and others told me that they had suffered the same bug and so understood how I felt. I can not tell you all how much that meant. Most of you I have come to know through my little blog here and you are such a blessing to me. Some I know face to face and all of you made me feel better. I am grateful for each and every one of you.  You are all such a blessing to me. I am blessed by you all and know it.

What I couldn't figure out was why I would get a shooting pain that would travel around my chest when I moved.  I do believe now that it was connected to a separate incident that happened last Thursday morning.  I didn't make the connection until I was laying around counting my blessing.

We got just a few inches of snow Wednesday night into Thursday morning. It was very pretty to look at and coated our little corner of the planet in winter white.
Just a little
Making our yard very beautiful
Fresh, white, soft
However a few inches of snow that are driven on gets packed down, then freezes.  I hit that on my way to work Thursday morning and this happened.

I hit black ice less than 100 yards from work. I simply could not stop and in what felt like slow motion, hit a car just sitting there in a parking lot. No one was hurt, all the people were fine, the car is in need of a new bumper but the alignment is fine and no other damage is spotted.  The new part is ordered and I will have the use of a rental car once we drop off our "Bonnie Lass" at the auto body shop. Does anyone else name their cars? The insurance company was even glad to know that both dogs were fine since one is in his great crate and the other one wears a seat belt.  Anyway, I think that while I was trying so hard not to hit the car in the parking lot, I was straining all my muscles trying to turn the wheel and control the car.  That is what hurt so much and that is why I had that shooting pain all around my chest.  Thursday the fender bender and Saturday the bug.

I am blessed that we have such good car insurance to pay for the damage, I'm blessed no one was hurt, I'm blessed so few were on the road that morning. I'm blessed that the stomach bug didn't last long, I'm blessed that my Husband took such good care of me while I moaned and complained that I needed a new body since this one was giving in to the stomach bug.  I'm blessed that both dogs behaved and didn't give Hubby any trouble because they were stuck in the house with a woman who complained all the time about being sick (I'm not a great sick person). I knew that Becke the wonder dog would be fine, but August is 4 months old and needs to play and run and jump and bark and be a puppy. I'm blessed that you all were so kind to me and are so supportive.

So many blessing....do you count yours?  What would you say is your greatest blessing today?

  1. My husband has been out of the country since Jan. 6th. He'll be home this morning : ) Glad you're okay and no one was seriously hurt.

  2. My greatest blessing today: getting to help out DD by watching the Ts today while she goes to her (hopefully) final post-surgical doctor's visit this afternoon.

So glad that you are doing better and that no one was seriously hurt. :-)

  3. I am glad that there were no serious injuries to anyone in your accident. Black ice is so dangerous, thank goodness I don't have to worry about that here. Also glad you are feeling better, and I imagine the dogs are too.

  4. So thankful you were not seriously injured and are feeling better.

I think my biggest blessing today is my family, immediate and extended, for many reasons.

  6. Oops, sorry about the fender bender. Those things happen to everyone at some time or another. Glad you're okay, except for the shooting pain.

Your snow pictures are beautiful. Stay warm!

  8. I'm so relieved to read that the only dents sustained in your fender bender was your car - not you, Becke or August. Your back/chest strain sounds painful and I hope by now it feels much better. And then two days later you got walloped by the stomach virus. You poor kid.

    To answer your questions:
Yes, I count my blessings every night when I thank God for everyone and everything I have in my life. Like you, I'm smart enough to recognize and appreciate how blessed I am.

My greatest blessing I'd say is my good health. I have some aches and pains and a couple of issues I have to manage medically, but compared to most older chicks my age, I'm lucky.

I'm also very grateful I still have a curious mind that works well (most of the time) and a grateful heart. And of course, I feel blessed to have such a wonderful, funny, talented, generous and smart friend in you.
