Wednesday Hodgepodge!

Joyce comes up with the questions, we come up with answers. Sounds easy right?  Well some of these questions are pretty hard.

1. Have you learned more from success or failure? Explain.
WOW, right off the bat here is one question that is hard to explain.  I learn from both success and failure. Success makes me feel good while failure makes me feel sad or embarrassed or even stupid but I have learned from both. I guess I remember the failures longer because of the stronger emotion attached to them.

2.  What did you call your grandparents when you were growing up? If you have children, what do they call your parents? If you have grandchildren, what do they call you?
I grew up only with 2 grandmothers. One, my maternal grandmother was Meme'. The other, paternal grandmother was Grannie. When our children were small my mother was Memere and Hubby's parents were Pepere and Memere Dot. Our grand kids call us Pepere and Grannie.

3.  You're invited to a luau.  In keeping with that theme, what dish will you bring to share?
Well it would have to be something with pineapples but what, I just don't know off the top of my head but I would look to Pinterest.

4. Besides Jesus, what one person's life story do you think everyone should know about?
I think it's important to know the history of the USA. So learning about our founding fathers and what they did for this country is important. The choices they made, cost them dearly.  I think it important to know the cost of freedom.

5. "Don't sweat the small stuff." Agree or Disagree? Why?
Agree!  Now that I have Cancer, I have a brand new view of what is important and I have learned that most stuff is small stuff and I am learning to let it go.  I don't have the energy to care about the dishes in the sink, the rugs that need to be vacuumed or the dust on the table.  It will get done, when it gets done.  Time cuddling with Hubby comes first. Time cuddling with my kids and grand kids come first.  Time with the friends I love and who love me are important to me now. Fighting Cancer is important to me now.

6.  June is National Rivers Month. When were you last on a river? What's the prettiest river you've ever seen? What's a river you'd like to see?

We took a ride down the Merced River when we were at Yosemite National Park, man that water is cold!!! I guess because it was in Yosemite it gets the vote for prettiest river. I would like to see the Mississippi and take a paddle boat ride down it.  That looks like a great ride.

7.  Speaking of rivers-paddling, fishing, swimming, or bird watching safely from the shore? Which activity would you choose? Yes-you have to choose.
Paddling on a river taking photos of the nature around me sounds like a great relaxing way to spend the day, especially if Hubby is with me.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.
I have now completed 4 weeks, 1 whole month, of Chemo!! 12 weeks or 3 months left to go.  So far - so good. I am reminded daily of just how blessed I am.  I not only have a God who loves and cares for me but so many people have also been caring for us. First of all I have a Hubby who goes with me to every appointment (and let me just say there are LOTS OF APPOINTMENTS when you have cancer). He also has taken on more household chores than he count and still makes me smile and laugh at what is going on around me.  I have adult kids who care and lookout for me. Our daughter went with me when it was time to get a wig.  She helped me select a nice one. She also made me Ginger Water that I use to calm my stomach when it gets upset.  She also keeps me laughing and cares for me. She is close by so when I need her, she is here for us.   Our son flew in from San Diego, CA, for a few days to check on all of us. He approves of how we are doing!  Prayers, emails, cards, calls and so on remind me that no one fights Cancer alone.
I have learned a lot and I'm still learning things like live for today, cast my cares on Him and don't sweat the small stuff.

OK, see some of these question are really thought provoking.  Your turn.....

  2. It's wonderful you have such a supportive family while you go through this challenging time. It sounds like you have a positive attitude which will go a long way. I'm with you on the Pinterest--I look there for so many things! I like the idea of someone else paddling a canoe while I sit and take pictures - sounds good to me.

  3. That is such a gorgeous photo of the river you chose. I can see why now. And I like your take on the failure/success question. The stronger the memory of a failure stays with you to succeed next time, right?

  4. Illness definitely has a way of teaching us NOT to sweat the small stuff, doesn't it?

Hopefully, before you know it, your chemo and cancer will be a distant memory! Thank the Lord for His help and all of your loving, supportive, family and friends during this time.

I agree with your answer to #4. We should all know the stories of our founding fathers.

As I said before, you are such an inspiration...such a positive person. I know you lean on Jesus and that's why...I admire you lady! :)

Also loved your answer about knowing about our founding fathers and the cost of freedom. I agree and wish more kids were being taught that these days!

  15. I think the wig is attractive. I'm glad Chemo has gone well so far and pray it continues to be the same in the following months.

I love the Merced river, but didn't think of that one! I've often read from Psalms as we drive into Yosemite. The beauty of His creation is breath-taking there. Thanks for taking me there today!

Love your luau answer! Pinterest is awesome!
