Thank you Joyce for this weeks questions. I hope you all join in on the fun.
I grew up in the 50's-60's so our typical Sunday was Catholic Mass in the morning followed by either lunch at our Memes house where would meet up with the cousins for lunch and then play with each other, or a drive in the country and stopping at some cafe for lunch. The rest of the day was spent home playing with my dolls, playing outside or resting. Sunday really was a day of rest as stores were not open so there was no place to go.
2. How comfortable are you with uncertainty? Explain.
Not very. I know that I don't know the future and I know who DOES knows the future and so I know that I'm good, but I'm also flesh and blood and this body would like to know the future. I struggle with this a lot. I'm getting better at trusting Him who holds my future in His hands.
3. What have you accomplished recently that might be described as crafty, as in 'arts and crafts' crafty? If crafty doesn't work for you, how about handy? Or both?
I make cards to send to people who I want to let know that I'm thinking of them, praying for them, or in some other way, let them know that they are not alone.
4. Have you ever worked in a 'food place'? What did you take away from the experience?
I worked in a small restaurant that had mostly hamburgers, hot dogs, and pizza. What I took away from that is I never want to be in a place where I'm dependent on the money from such a place and that those people work very hard. I was so glad when they fired me for not being very good.
5. Cold turkey, talk turkey, what a turkey...in recent days, which turkey phrase or idiom best applies to you and why? Click on the word turkey if you need to read more about the meaning behind each phrase.
I'll go with "What a turkey!" I took our small dog to our very first agility trial and I just got the videos and boy do I run like a turkey. A really fat turkey! Why oh why did I wear White? With 6 months of steroids I've gained a lot of weight and boy does it show on that video. I really need black pants. So what a turkey!
6. If you could have any one guest join your Thanksgiving dinner table, who would it be?
I would love to have friends that have moved away. We talk and email often and boy do those emails get long as we go back and forth. Having them at the dinner table, we would be talking all day and having a blast.
7. What is one thing you must accomplish today?
I have videos to download and then figure out how to add them to my blog for next week.

Baby it's cold up here!! When I wake up it's only in the 20's and 30's and it's not getting much warmer as the day goes on. I'm so grateful that we have a nice warm house with the furnace running and the pellet stove going as well. No snow yet, but it feels like it will be here soon.
It was COLD here this morning when I woke up! I'm SO not ready for winter's arrival! I think it's wonderful that you make cards to send to people you care about. We should all do more of that, I think.
ReplyDeleteIt was 18 degrees here when I woke up. Brrrrr We even had a little snow on the deck yesterday morning when I got up. How sweet of you to share your concern for others with such sweet handmade cards.

Its cold here too! And we even had some snow! Eek, too early in the season for that! Love the card! I love making home made cards, but I hardly ever have the time to get out all my supplies :) Happy Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteThose were the days, Sunday's were church and family days. I don't care for uncertainty either but I trust HIS path for me. What....you look awesome in that video with August!!! The best way to add videos is to download them to YouTube and then they give you everything you need to put them on your blog. Burr....stay warm.
ReplyDelete1-Riding the LIRR and then the subway to church in upper Manhattan. Then going to the Estonian House on the lower east side for lunch before we all got back on the train to go home to Long Island.
ReplyDelete2-Not at all. Security and stability are big must-haves for my peace of mind.
3-The closest to arts and crafts I come is drawing small illustrations and then coloring them in with markers.
4-Yes, I briefly worked in a small burger joint when I was 20 years old. Got fired because the boss said I made lousy coffee. Hated that job.
5-I quit drinking giant Cokes every day cold turkey to keep my weight and blood sugar down. Tough to give up, but I figured if I could quit smoking, I could do this. And I did.
6-I would have friends around the table who live far away in other states.

8-I bought my first two Christmas gift for hubby today. He's next to impossible to buy for without his wish list. Getting him something he likes and didn't ask for is always fun to surprise him with.
I tend to be a 'worrier', so I have to keep reminding myself Who is in control.
ReplyDeleteIf you are able to run, that's great! Be thankful, even if you think you run like a turkey:) As for the weight, there's plenty of time to get it off, after you're healthy! Hang in there! We're rootin' for ya!
As for being cold, brrr, it's cold here, too. Nothing like your temps, but still cold for us (mid 30's last night)! Stay warm!
It is cold here also. We woke up to a dusting of snow yesterday. Boy was Megan excited! This girl... not so much.

ReplyDeleteFrigid here too. I always enjoy the agility demos at the dog shows we've been to. We had a little snow yesterday, but nothing stuck (yay!). Keep doing what you need to do to beat this thing!

I like how you spent Sundays growing up, typical of my childhood too and you are right, no stores opened on Sunday; kind of like that, wish they would go back to that philosophy. I truly admire those that work in retail and fast food; I don't think they get paid enough for the work they do and the customers they have to put up with.
