Hodgepodge Time: Out With Winter and In With Spring

1. Did March come in like a lion or was it something less ferocious in your neck of the woods?
February ended with a snow storm that just continued into March where I stayed home and watched it all come down.

2. Speaking of lions, which one's your film favorite...The Cowardly Lion(Wizard of Oz), Mufasa (The Lion King), Elsa (Born Free), or Alex(Madagascar)? You may notice I left Aslan off the list. Including him would have made this question way too easy for many of you.
Wizard of Oz - paws down!

3. What's your favorite spot from which to view the sunrise or sunset?
Right outside my door. Ever see the sun rise as it peaks out at you through the trees? Beautiful!

4. To what extent is knowledge power and to what extent is truthpower? What's the difference?
This is sort of like the right thing to do and the legal thing to do, are they the same? No, they are not, and so it goes with knowledge and truth.  Knowledge is power in that it informs our ability to fix something or to make a choice about something (like which road to drive down to sight see  and which road will get you someplace faster). Truth is power in that it enhances your knowledge by informing your ability to defend your choice or which path to take for your health. Knowledge that was untrue would be an detriment.

5. What's something peculiar you've seen recently?
Not long ago, it was pretty cold up here but one day I saw a man in shorts and a winter coat coming out of a store!  Really? If it's so cold that you need the winter coat then you need to wear long pants too!!!

6. Bottled water...your thoughts?
Yes, there is bottled water.  Oh did you mean do I like bottled water, then that would be yes.

7. What's your strongest sense?
Since I wear Bifocals it sure isn't seeing. Since Hubby says he repeats statements to me it can't be hearing. Since I don't do spicy foods, that takes taste out of the running. So that leaves touch and smell both are pretty strong. If I pick just one, I'll say touch because I love the feel of fabric and I do pass my hand over counters to feel how clean they are. What, doesn't everyone do that?

8. Insert your own random thought here.
We still have snow on the ground due to a storm last week but low and behold Spring is popping up and reaching for the Heavens.

Random Bullet Thoughts, of a Random Mind

My mind is fractured today. My mind jumps from thought to thought so here is my brain - sort of.

* I'm glad that August wakes me up when he has to go out. Even if it is 2:30 am.
* I'm glad we have a fenced in yard so I don't have to put on boots and leash up August, just open the door and out he goes.
* I'm glad he does "go" and it's not an act.
* I'm glad that he goes right back to sleep.
* I'm glad he wakes me up. No accidents in weeks!

* I like the looks of a clean kitchen.
* I like the glow of candles on the counter.
* I like the smell of fresh washed floors.
* I like a clean table.
* I like the soft glow of a small light casting a glow in the kitchen at 2:30 in the morning.

* I like our older dog as well, she just sleeps until 5 am and doesn't bother waking me up until then (she is looking for breakfast however)

That's an Antler between her front legs, just in case you were wondering. She chews them as a treat.

* I love watching our grand girls and I am so happy that Hubby/Pepere is around to help me.
* Both dogs and both of us all sleep very good at night after a day with the "Girls"
* My brain is done now.

Dreamy Davy Jones was the First Boy in my Bedroom

When I was teenager, I had posters of Davy all over my room. And I do mean ALL OVER MY ROOM. Ceiling, walls, doors, closet. I slept with magazines filled with him under my pillow. His pictures were on my book covers and I do remember having a lunch box with The Monkees on it.

My mother told me I could not put nails in the walls, and I was the obedient child, so instead I used glue to hold the hundreds of photos of the Monkees. I'm sure my mother did a lot of swearing in French when I moved out and the photos were still there!  I just couldn't take them down. (I think that was partly because the of all that glue!)

Now I did have photos of all 4 of them but Davy was clearly my favorite.  I cried when he was on TV. Not the sad kind of cry but the excited emotional teen girl crying as I imagined that Davy was singing just to me, through the TV.

I had all of the albums and would walk miles to the record store to buy whatever new 45 or album that was just released.
Even in winter.
In the snow.

I had one favorite song, that I played over and over again, until the 45 wore out and I would have to go buy another one. Yes, 45's wore out!

It was not "Day Dream Believer". It was "I wanna Be Free".  It spoke to my heart, my frame of mind, my life at the time.

I, along with millions of others, send my condolences to his wives and children.  He will be missed.
R.I.P. Davy

Leaping Into Wednesday Hodgepodge

Thank you Joyce for the Leap Year edition of the Hodgepodge.  What fun because it will be years before we get this again.

1. The Hodgepodge falls on the last day of February this year, a leap year. How will you spend that extra day?

I will be spending some of the day in class with August. He graduates Level 1 on Wednesday and continues with his beginner agility class. He loves agility.  Also there is a snow storm coming so I will be watching the weather report and if the snow fails to come, I'll be going to mid week Bible study. How's that for a full day!

2. What has recently required a leap of faith on your part?
Personal Finances are what my mind wonders about. This requires a leap of faith so that I don't worry about it but lay it at the feet of the Master who answers all prayers.

3. We're one week into the season of Lent...are you marking these 40 days in some way? Giving something up or adding something extra to normal life? How's it going so far?
I am not giving up anything for lent but I am spending more time in prayer for others. So far, there are a lot of people to pray for so I'm busy.

4. When was the last time you sat beside a fire?

Last night. Hubby got the pellet stove going  and I did some sewing by it. I continue to make harnesses for August to wear. I love our pellet stove!

5. Surf and Turf is on the menu. Do you order as is or do you ask for just the surf (lobster), just the turf (steak), or a menu so you can select another option?
That is a lot of food so most likely I will select another option where I can have what I want in the size that I want.

6. If you could have any television program back, not in reruns but in new episodes, what program would you choose?

I think I would like the Dick Van Dyke Show. Skits like this make me smile. Sweet and simple joys.

7. They say an elephant never forgets. These days would you say your memory is more like an elephant or a gnat?

It seems that my short term memory is more of the gnat variety. I can't remember if I emailed someone, or where my shoes are.  I think I just need a day to sleep and think. I feel like I'm running a race some days.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

The theme for today is: Something I'm listening to.
I got this app to listen to some radio stations at work since I don't have great reception at my desk and can get only 1 AM and 1FM station. What I found was this section of really old broadcast stations. They have Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, Amos and Andy and George and Gracie and other old time broadcasts that  included mystery theater - westerns - comedy and the like. I didn't grow up listening  to the radio like the Walton's (I'm not THAT old).  I had a TV that we watched in the evening so I never heard these broadcasts. I am so enjoying this. I feel like the Walton's sitting in the living room staring at the "radio" and imagining the story. The app is free and so are the stations. I hope one day to hear "War of the Worlds" the way is was broadcast on the radio and caused so much panic.

Now it's your turn, Join us will you?
