The Last Spring Hodgepodge

Thank you Joyce for another set of wonderful questions. Come on, by now you know how to play right?

1. In what way are you your own worst enemy?
Yes, in some ways I am.  I worry about things I have no control over.  I get myself all set to hear bad news about something only to find out that it is not bad news after all. I try to tell myself to SHUT UP but apparently, I am not listening.

2. Jacques Cousteau's birthday was Monday, June 11th...ever been scuba diving? Is that something you'd like to try? What's your favorite 'under the sea' creature?
I have never been scuba diving. It is one thing I would like to do but I'm not sure that I could carry the weight of the air tank on my back.  I'm not very strong back there. The other thing would be that I would like to go scuba diving in Bahamas!    My favorite creature would be the Sea Horse. Did you know that the male has the babies?????? Oh Yeah I'm all up for that.  Plus they come in such beautiful colors, don't you agree?

3. On a scale of 1-10, how comfortable are you in and around the water? (1=not at all, 10=very) Do you know how to swim and if so how and when did you learn?
10 ---I learned how to swim at a very young age and went swimming all summer long for many years.  We had a small public pool a few miles from the house and my girl friend Susan and I would walk down to it and spend the day.  It was great fun.  I love calm water so I don't swim in the ocean - besides the water is way too cold for me!! Now the public pools are pretty nasty so I would not go in them but  back oh-so-many-years-ago they were clean. I even took my lifeguard test. I didn't pass because one of the tests involved putting on shorts, button shirt, socks and sneakers over the swimsuit, diving in and while staying under water getting all of that off before coming up with all the clothes in tow.  I could not stay down there long enough. Not becuase I ran out of air, but because I float!! I mean I would come up feet first sometimes because I simply could not stay down there.  Guess I am really full of Hot Air!

4. What's something you do to motivate yourself to tick an item off your to-do list?
Simple, I put it on the list.  I love to cross off things as they are completed. I even have an app for it so I can cross it off the list on my iPhone.  I get great satafaction at looking at a list of crossed off items!

5. What makes a good neighbor? Are you a good neighbor?
I think a good neighbor is quiet after dark so everyone else can sleep and minds their own business most of the time. Even offering a place to stay when the neighbor locks themselves out of the house.  Helps out when they can with snow plowing or house watching while the neighbors are gone. I think we are good neighbors.

6. Who loads the dishwasher at your house? Is there a right way and a wrong way?
Both Hubby and I load it and I really don't care how its loaded as long as it is started before it gets too full.  I like to run the dishwasher in the middle of the night so I set it because Hubby has yet to figure out that function.

7. You know it's summer when I take off my sweater.
As many of you know I have Reynolds Disease which means I cannot maintain my body temperature. My normal body temp is 97.2 degrees.  Even that is hard to maintain as it can can go down to 96 degrees so I wear sweaters a lot, all year. Hubby has gotten into the habit of bringing a sweatshirt or jacket for me to use as a blanket over my legs because he is bigger than me.  So come summer, when I can, I take off the sweater, drop Hubby's jacket over my legs and enjoy the heat of summer.  Bring on the 85 degrees, and I'm fine with 102 as well.
We still have a comforter on the bed. The ceiling fan is on for the dogs, the window is open for them and I am under the comforter.  Curled up. Cold!  I still have one pair of winter pj's that I have worn on a few colder nights.  With socks!
When it get warmer, the AC will go on and I will put on the winter pj's again.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
This is the last spring time Hodgepodge. Next week we will be in Summer.  I love summer, the heat, the sun shining in the window at 5am, having Moxie floats after dinner. Grilling outside most of the time.  Ever had a grilled salad? It's delish!!!  Bring on the summer!!!

  1. I'm with you on #7! So many have asked me how I can manage to quilt in the summer when it's warm ... with my Raynaud's, I am quite comfortable under that quilt with the air conditioning running. ha!

I love that panel on your dishwasher!

  4. All we've done since last month is grill out...and I love it! Pork chops, steaks, chicken, veggies, you name it! Makes the clean-up so much easier when you cook outdoors.

  5. I did actually know that about seahorses! I learned it when the lovelies were in elementary school! :) That's funny about not being able to stay under because of floating up- I was the same way! LOL

  6. I love grilled romaine...can't wait to have some! My daughter has Raynauds....she lives in SC at the moment which is a good place to be if you can't take the cold.

  7. If you lived down south, you could shed that sweater a lot sooner than summer :)

I like sea horses, too, and have always found them fascinating. It was only during recent years that I learned that the males have the babies.

  8. I don't listen to myself either. Sea Horse is beautiful. I picture you as being organized and love checking off you list. I keep writing new ones! Love your dishwasher front. Never had a grilled salad, you will have to share how you do that.

  9. Another list lover! Sometimes if I do something that's not on the list, I go ahead and add it just for the pleasure of crossing it off and seeing what I've accomplished!

    Grilled salad?! Sounds interesting!

  10. My feet and hands get cold, but you put a whole new meaning to that statement!
Sea horses are so pretty. My uncle bought me a sea horse necklace when I was a little girl. I wonder whatever happened to it??
