S.W,M.B.O. YUP that's me!

S.W.M.B.O.

I don't remember when it all started but at some point I became S.W.M.B.O.

Maybe it was when our son, one day told me he would get to cleaning his room "sometime".

Or maybe it was a time when our daughter decided she would climb a tree in her pretty Easter dress and didn't want to come down.

Whenever it was, Hubby got up and defended  me as he always did and declared that they had to follow S.W.M.B.O. Because I was a gift from God.

Can you image how I felt. Our children were giving me grief about something, I was working lots of hours, going to college, running a house and feeling like I was failing at everything and my Hubby called me a gift from God! I sure didn't feel like a gift, hair in my face, laundry not done, dust everywhere, and leftovers for dinner.......AGAIN.

How would you feel if at your lowest, you were declared a gift. Not just any gift, a gift from God! I have something important to do here,  I have to live up to this gift thing!

WOW I sure did feel good and from then on I was SWMBO (pronounced "swim-bow")  When the kids asked their dad if they could go someplace, he would ask "Did you ask SWMBO?"  When asked if he could join other men to do something, his response was "Well, let me see if SWMBO has plans and I'll get back to you."

I like having a pet name. I like having a name that came from Hubby and I like being SWIMBO
(She Who Must Be Obeyed)

So what is your pet name and how did you get it and, more importantly, do you like it?

  1. Lynn,
I am so thankful to hear this story at last. As long as I have known SWMBO I have not known the source of it. Now I like it. (Actually I thought it was pronounced SWAMBO, thanks for the clarification)

  2. And now we know how you came to be called SWMBO. ;-) How precious that your hubby considers you a gift from God.

  5. Such a sweet post! I was wondering the entire time what SWMBO stood for :)

Ed calls me "Hunnybunny", that's why my blogging name is edshunnybunny.

  7. As a 6'4" retired police officer, I know nobody can push Gerry around. That's one of the reasons I've always found his calling you SWMBO so endearing. I've always admired your husband's tenderness with you so that makes your title as SWMBO sweet and funny to me.

I don't have a nickname from Marty. If he calls me "Honey" once in a while, I'm thrilled. To get my attention I usually get "Hey, you know what?" or my name. But my husband has never been a warm and fuzzy kind of guy :D
