Wednesday Hodgepodge: The Spring Edition

This week's Hodgepodge is all Spring and I am loving that!! After all Spring starts on Sunday! Thank you Joyce once more.  If you click on the button you can join in the fun.

1. What would you do if you found a pot of gold? Let's pretend this pot of gold is worth exactly $1500 (which would actually be more like a cup of gold at current values). Anyway, let's also pretend you have to spend it as opposed to making a donation someplace. Now tell me what you would do with that cup pot of gold?
OK Joyce said I have to spend it so following those rules, I would rip up the carpet and replace it with hard wood floors. I would then do some major landscaping so that our grand daughters (I love saying that) have a play yard, and finally I would enclose our deck so we can use it longer in the year.

2. Do you celebrate St. Patrick's Day in any way, shape, or form?
Green tea, green coffee, green clothes. When the kids were little, green milk, green pancakes for breakfast!  Good think my family loves me.

3. Have you been bitten by the Spring Cleaning bug? What spring cleaning job most needs doing at your house? What spring cleaning job are you most dreading?
I really do like to Spring Clean. I like to move the furniture around and get behind it and clean. I like to open the windows and let in the fresh air and get rid of the bad air. We repainted the living room with new colors and moved the furniture to give the room a new look.

Pesto Green walls just look bright and clean.

The job I am most dreading? We have to take our kitchen cabinets down because something is wrong and they are sagging and so I dread what we will find up there.
No blood yet - a good sign.
4. lime-shamrock-sage-forest...your favorite shade of green?
See # 3 - Pesto is the new shade but I like all greens. After all the white of winter snow, I am really looking for green.

5. Thomas Jefferson once said, "I'm a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it." So...do you believe in luck or do you believe we make our own luck?
Oh Joyce! I thought that we would all get a week on fun questions, and here you go tossing in one of the questions that makes me think!  I don't believe in luck, I believe that in all things God works either for us or through us and maybe others see that as luck but I believe it's God.

6. Monday (3/14) was Pi Day. Get it? Pi =3.14. Those math types are so clever aren't they? Since I'm not one of them tell me what's your favorite piE (the edible kind).
Is there a bad pie?  In winter I like a warm apple pie, in the Summer Chocolate Silk pie puts a smile on my face. Fall brings out the Pumpkin Pie in me and Spring is Key Lime for me.  Pie! It's all good, right?

7. That same date (3/14) happens to be the birthdate of the late physicist Albert Einstein. I bet he knew the value of Pi. So...what do you think is more important and or valuable in life... intelligence or common sense?
Our Son had a friend when he was little that was very smart but not one ounce of common sense.  I loved that boy who is now a fine wonderful man who has learned but OH MY when he was young I worried for his life. He had no common sense and it was sort of like having Sheldon from Big Bang Theory around all the time. Never sure if you wanted to shoot him or just laugh at him.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
I get up in the morning from my warm bed and walk down the warm hall and get into a hot shower.  I blow dry my hair, brush my teeth, put on clean clean clothes and put on my makeup. I pour a cup of hot fresh coffee and turn on my TV for the morning news. I am struck with how my normal morning is so much more than what is happening in Japan. How any of those people would love to have a warm house, warm bed, hot shower, tooth paste and brush, electricity, clean clothes, make up, hot coffee, and a life very different from there  current reality.

We complain about our seasons, our jobs, our lives and then I watch the news and pray to God for his blessings to reach out to them. Makes our problems look very small.  God Bless them and Keep them and may His Angels bring comfort to them all.

  1. I used to give my boys green milk, too! Sounds like you really went all out!
I'd have to second that "Amen" to #8.

  2. I have to say I think the fact that I cannot open any windows yet is impacting my motivation to spring clean. I need fresh air to go with it!

My daughter mentioned in her Hodgepodge answers the memory of me putting green milk in her school thermos back in the day...I'd kind of forgotten about that.

  3. I'm with you - there are no bad pies!

And the situation in Japan is certainly very humbling ... and heartbreaking.

  4. I like the pesto, I have been thinking of painting our living room sage green.
Japan is heart-breaking, but while watching it yesterday even the media commented how thankful they are just to be alive.
Whereas most of us would probably be complaining. Comparing it to Katrina and the reactions of the people.

  5. I used to make green pancakes,
    never thought of green milk.

    I believe in God ordained.

  8. I never thought of green milk, how fun is that.
    A big Amen to #8.
I have been in awe of the people of Japan. I saw the older couple who were starting to clean up their home from the devastation of the earthquake. This couple had such a positive attitude, were not blaming anyone and were startingbto rebuild. I can only pray that I would have such a positive attitude.

  9. I would have guessed you liked Spring cleaning. Key Lime and Pumpkin are favorites of mine too.
My son is so smart, has an awesome job at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Beverly Hills, CA but never had common sense as a boy! I am keeping Japan in my prayers and am thankful for what we have.

  10. Lynn Marie! I just remembered that you tagged me some while back! Oh dear, I'm sorry.

Pie. I like a bite of pie, ANY kind, but not a whole piece. That is weird coming from someone like me, because I just love dessert. Green. All but "seafoam green" from the Crayola crayon box. Your living room looks clean and fresh!
