Thank you Joyce, you all know what to do by now right?
Anything by the Beach Boys - they just scream SUMMER
Oh and "Whipe Out" Who needs a lot of words, the music alone makes me feel warm all over.
2. What's your favorite quintessential summer food?
Favorite food? As in 1? You must be kidding Joyce! Watermelion, ice cream, anything grilled and eaten outside, ice tea, ice coffee, fried dough (at the beach), strawberries, rasberries and list goes on and on. I love it all.
3. I've spent a lot of time traipsing up and down the NJ Turnpike in recent weeks. Did you know the rest areas on the turnpike are named after people who lived or worked in NJ? Clara Barton, Walt Whitman, James Fenimore Cooper, Molly Pitcher, Joyce Kilmer, Thomas Edison, and Gover Clevland just to name a few. Of those I listed, who would you most like to have known and why?
Well since I don't like the dark it would have to be Thomas Edison.
4. At what age did you move out of your parent's house and what prompted the move?
I was 18 years old when I moved out. I got married 3 weeks after graduating high school and married my best friend. Come July 1st, 2012 it will be 40 years and he is still my best friend and I would do it all again.
5. What's more satisfying to you-saving time or saving money?
BOTH! Have you heard that I'm scottish!
6. Name something you think brings out the good in people.
Hardship. It seems when people hear about someone in trouble, entire communities come together to help them out. I've heard about people who let it known that they were sick and entire communities come together to hold fund raising events or blood drives or whatever that person needs. We do it with our own families. One person looses his job and other family members show up to help out.
7. This last question comes to you courtesy of Kathy over at Reflections...will you be taking a vacation or a staycation this summer? If so where will you go? If a staycation is on the calendar have you made any special plans to fill the time?
We are taking a staycation this summer and will do day trips but we do not have definite plans. Now that Hubby is retired, we sort of have a "Whatever" attitude.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
As summer officially starts, the weather is suppose to be 98 today!!!! YUP I'm loving that but hubby is not so happy. He will have the AC on in the house and I will outside every chance I get to soak up all the heat. We start to cool down tomorrow.
Now it's your turn to answer the questions.
Wipe Out... perfect summer song! I love how by reading everyone else's blogs I remember things I had forgotten or learn new things :)
ReplyDeleteWipe Out makes me think of my brother's band when we were growing up. They loved that song : ) We're in for heat today thru Friday but it is summer so I'm not complaining. 40 years!! That's fantastic-congratulations!
ReplyDelete98? I like it good and warm, but 98 is a little too warm for me.
ReplyDeleteI had a hard time picking just one summertime food, too. ;-)
Love Wipe Out!
ReplyDelete40 years!! That's great! i was just talking to my teen about the pros and cons of getting married young, and I told him it took a very special couple to get married in their teens and allow themselves to grow up together and make it work! Sounds like you are one of those blessed couples!
ReplyDeleteI said watermelon & corn. Most everything else that you said we kinda do all year round so I don't think of them that way. I guess I miss the seasons for that reason! Never minded not having the snow at Christmas though. Wow, 3 weeks after graduating. Mark went away to college so we waited a few years. We are 40 years on Sunday!
ReplyDelete(of course minus those six years) 1972 was a good year. Hardship is the perfect answer. Too bad it has to be that way but it's all in Gods plan. Being inside with the AC is great but I also enjoy the heat within reason. Have a great rest of the week.
The Beach Boys, I can't believe I didn't think of them. Love the Beach Boys!
ReplyDeleteYou married at 18! Awesome and congrats on the almost 40 years!
I agree with you on the summer foods..there are so many good ones.
What wonderful answers. Your random answer reminds me of the summer our AC died and we couldn't get anyone for several days. I sweated it out while the hubby was still on the road. (Trucker) One night at home finds him at Lowe's the next day getting a window unit for our bedroom! That unit still runs all year long. With or without the AC! New follower, would love for you to stop by Life or Something Like It and follow back.
ReplyDeleteThe Beach Boys remind me of summers, too. Lots of good summer tunes...
ReplyDeleteWow, 98 degrees! That's warmer than it was here in the south! We were in the high 80's.
Apparently a lot of us left home and got married in 1972! It was a very good year :)
Wow! That is wonderful weather..98?!?!?! Wish we had that weather. We had around the 90s for a day or two but it got super windy and cold today...not my favorite day especially right after summer starting but oh well. :)
ReplyDeleteHardships was a good answer for that one. I didn't think of that :)
You're so right about the hardships! And the Beach Boys! :)
