Couponing Again

For Years I was faithful to couponing, then I got busy with life and with the price of gas going up it was harder to get around so staying at one store was just easier. A lot easier. I was lazy.

But it cost more.

A lot more.

Life has a way of coming full circle and with this economy, and changes here at home, it's important to rethink using coupons again.

I had a coupon book and it did work, but it needed to be tweaked so this weekend I did just that.

The Bible verse says; "She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar." Proverbs 31:14

Inside there are pockets for each store I will visit and will hold both flyers and receipts.

Large clear pockets holds the coupons. Putting them back to back means I have coupons on both sides

I labeled each category rather than labeling the aisles since our stores like to move the food around often.

I added these foldable scissors to cut coupons as I found them.

They open up to small but practical pair and then close back up when not in use.
I've been on line getting some coupons and using them. Last week I saved $15.79 in products. I know not a lot...baby steps here ladies, it's been a long time.

How do you organize your coupons? Do you have a plastic box to put them in? A binder like me, or something different? How many stores do you go to during the week? Do you hit them all at once or on different days of the week?

I'm also following and learning from Lorie over at  The Midlife Housewife. She is very talented so if you ever wanted to learn more about saving money,  heard on over to her blog for a lesson or two. And share your insights here. Please....Thank you.

  1. I used to do a lot of couponing, not so much anymore. I use my store discount cards and CVS points are great but we eat mostly fresh food that doesn't offer coupons. I look for deals on things like detergent and paper towels, etc.

  2. My daughter recently started couponing again. She's gotten me started again, too. She has a binder, but I don't have that many coupons yet. It does make us feel good to see the money we save though!

  3. I need to do coupons more, but a lot of times the store brands are cheaper than what it would cost using a coupon so we go with the store brands. For most things, I'm okay with store brands, have a few things I'm not crazy with store brands for (mac and cheese for one). I have seen women in the store with binders to keep track of their coupons.

We watch the sales papers and we live within a 5 mile radius of the stores we go to. So we just plan Koda's walks if we want to hit a particular store to get a good bargain. If it is hot, I wait outside with him in the car while hubby runs in to get the sales item. If it is cool enough to leave him in the car alone, we both go in (this is only for the one or two items, not our big shopping expeditions, we leave Koda home for those).

It is an art, but we cut our grocery bill in half after we moved (of course we are just buying for two instead of three when son lived with us) but we also have a nice stockpile of food we've been building up.

anything to do to save money these days!

  4. Looks like you are really organized. I don't coupon shop as much as I use to. Our two main stores always did double coupons but not anymore so the thrill was gone. I do however go once a month with any $1 ones from the paper and from the computer. I follow several people who do couponing so they always have links to good ones.

Thank you for stopping by today and if you left me a comment, thank you twice!
