Getting Ready for Fall/Winter

Our stove was really cooking a few weeks ago.
How do you get ready for the fall and winter weather? If you live in the south, you may not do much at all. Our Daughter-In-Law lives in San Diego and she gets ready for the Fall/Winter season by putting out the different season placemats, moves the long sleve tee shirts from the back of the closet to the front and digs out the socks!  That is pretty much it!  How about you?

It was cleaned on Thursday and given a light coat of paint. Doesn't it look great!

Up here, it's a bit more involved and takes several weeks to finally really be ready and of course there is a checklist that is used.

Do you have a checklist? How are you doing on it? Do tell? Some how,  I think our daughter-in-law's way sounds easier.

  1. We don't have a checklist, but it's definitely more than pulling out the warm socks! I had the furnace serviced two weeks ago, the sprinklers turned off, clothes are in the process of being switched from summer to winter, and this weekend we'll probably deal with the patio furniture. Have a nice weekend!

  2. No checklist. As I get older though a checklist may not be a bad idea. We already put away patio furniture, serviced the tractor, and put away all the 'summer' clutter/decorations, (if you can call it that).

  3. I still have lots to do to be ready for winter. I hope to get it done this weekend as it sounds like we may have a flurry or two next week. I hear that you may be having a little dose of winter yourself next week. Yuck! I am not quite ready, but am I ever!?

  4. No checklist here. But if we had one, it wouldn't be nearly as extensive as yours, I'm sure ... since our winters are no doubt quite a bit milder than yours. ;-) Thanks for the reminder ... it's time to get started on our winter preparations.

  5. We don't change anything for Winter except we will switch from air conditioning to heat on the thermostat. Even living in Illinois for 38 years I never did a closet clothes change either. So glad your getting yourself ready. Being prepared is very important. Have a nice weekend.

  6. Since I too live in the San Diego area, we pretty much do what your daughter-in-law does, put an extra blanket on the bed, close the windows a little bit. What amazes me is that it is October already. I keep saying it, but this year has flown by!
