Recipe of the Week: Cheeseburger Pie

I love easy meals, especially when I'm running late or really busy. Lately I have been both running late and busy so this Cheeseburger Pie works for me. I also love the smell while it's cooking. One more added bonus....the heat from the oven while it's cooking! I like heat!

There are many versions of this - this is mine.

1 pound hamburger

1/4 cup chopped onion

2 eggs

1/2 cup Heavy cream

4-6 ounces cheddar cheese shredded

Seasonings of your choice (I used onion power, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes)

Cook the hamburger and onion till onions are tender and meat is completely cooked, drain grease. In a separate large bowl mix the eggs with cream. Add the meat mixture and the seasonings and 1/2 of the cheese and mix well. Put all in a greased pie pan and top with remaining cheese. Bake at 400 for 20-30 minutes. Let stand for 15 minutes before serving.

Makes 6 servings

Total net carbs 2.5 per serving

Really good! Really try it, let me know what you think.

  1. I'm all about the quick and easy meals! Especially today since I'll have the grandkids all afternoon and have a quilt guild to get ready for after they leave. Might be just the night to try your cheeseburger pie. It sure sounds awesome ... I can't wait!

  2. I used to make something called cheeseburger pie many years ago. I haven't pulled that recipe out in ages but we all loved it. Mine was similar but I spread crescent rolls across the bottom of the pie pan before filling (flattened out-just the dough) and it made a yummy crust!

  3. Joyce,
Yes I do believe that some of the recipies I've seen have some sort of crust, but since I do a low carb livestyle, I don't add that step. I don't miss the crust at all and it holds together really well. I think it's time you dig out those old recipies and have a go at it.

  4. LynnMarie, I had to laugh at your comment about hot flashes. I don't have a medical cause, but I'm always chilly ... well, except in the middle of summer when it's 90 degrees or more with a humidity level of 90% or more. I was so looking forward to hot flashes, in hopes that they'd counterbalance the constant chilled feeling. :-(
