Weekend Review: The 400 mile Challenge

The little yellow building is the dog house! Good thing she doesn't use it much.
Well the news around here is 33 inches of snow in January!! I believe that the state capital has the official snow depth at 31.5 but it's 33 here at our town. Every where you go you hear "So how much do you have?" or "What did you get from the last storm?"   People are still digging out and trying to find places to put it.  The snow banks are so high that you inch out into the intersection just to see who is about to hit you.  During storms like this there is a parking ban which means you either cannot park on the streets at all or you can park on the even side today and the odd side tomorrow. All of this has people trying to figure out where to put the car or if it's an odd day or even day.  Thankfully we have a driveway but cars are being towed all over and the owners are not very happy.  Our driveway gets plowed but we have to shovel a path from the driveway all the way to the back so that the oil company can deliver our heating fuel.  And we have to shovel out a spot for Becke the wonder dog to go - you know what.  We got this show shovel a few weeks back and we have since put it to very good use.

The regular shovel next to it is for the stares. I'm not good on stares.

The good side of this is that I had 2 days of no work.  So I could concentrate on getting in my workouts. I could ride the bike twice instead of just once or put in the Wii workouts and and go for it.
So I got in 51 miles this week!  That was a lot and I must say that I am proud of myself (I know Pride goes before the fall - so I'm trying hard not to be too proud).  I usually get some bug or flu in the winter that keeps me in bed for several days or even a week. One year I was on antibiotics for months and I don't exercise much then so if that happens this time, it will all balance out.  So I am up to a total of  127 miles.

The other news around here is that it has gotten bitter cold. Actual temps here have been in the single numbers and the wind chill is bring it down to negative numbers.  We are really looking forwarded to warming up to freezing!  Sounds strange but we would be thankful for just freezing about now.

How was your weekend and how was your challenge?

Hearing about your snow makes me glad we don't have any. That's a mighty big snow shovel, too...Stay warm!

  5. We spent part of our weekend moving snow too...trying to make a place for the plow to put the new snow that is supposed to be here this week. It's crazy!

    Stay warm!

  6. Yup, I remember the days of 30+ inch snow storms in NH. Nothing's prettier to look at from the comfort of a warm house. I also remember what a PIA it was to deal with. The romantic notion of a winter wonderland gets old real fast :D
After our Christmas Day snowfall it took my husband a few days to find a snow shovel. (We'd sold our old one when we moved south).
We didn't realize folks around here panic at the first snow flake. They stampede to the stores to buy shovels, salt, bread, you name it. Very funny until we realized we needed to have one of our own. The joke was on us!

  7. If we had 33 inches of snow here, I don't think we'd be in school until June! We only had 4-6 inches and were out a week!

Congrats on your miles this week and your total.
    You're doing an amazing job!!
