How was your first week on 2012? It's been interesting up here. We live in New Hampshire and so we get to vote in the Primary tomorrow, Tuesday. I like that we have the primary early because we have more to pick from. By time some states get to vote, they are down to just 2 people left in the running. We have several. The down side to that is that they are all CALLING US TO VOTE FOR THEM. The phone rings all day long asking to be part of a political survey or asking us to vote for them. Some of the calls have real people calling and others are machines. We are tired of the calls and so we have stopped answering the phone. Sorry for those of you who were really tyring to get in touch with us, call our cell.
We also have political adds all day on the TV or on the radio. I will be glad when it's over. I do feel that it is important to vote and I will be at the polls early on Tuesday. I will be turning in to see how the vote is going and will watch the returns. It is interesting to watch the process. Still, I will be glad when it's over and everyone leaves our little state.
We have also had some wonderful weather! It was in the 40's this weekend! A January Thaw for sure but the problem is we have a January Thaw in the middle of a nasty winter and so far this winter has been wonderful. I wear a sweat shirt and light jacket, and the jacket it open. No hat, no gloves, no boots! It has been wonderful!! Every week on the news however is a story of some animal that has fallen into through thin ice and shows citizens and fire men working hard to save the animals. Some were dogs that fell through the ice and some were deer and moose that have fallen into thin ice. They keep telling everyone not to put up the ice houses and not to venture out on the ice. I love it but others not much. It makes for interesting face book conversations. How is the weather you way?
New coat for August this week. |
With matching Harness |
Sunday started with a meaningful worship service followed by playing with the grand girls which is always fun and it helps to wear out August. And ended with a fun evening at small group where we continue to study the book of Hebrews. Got to sew another harness and coat for August. He does wear the coat to work in the morning but I carry it home at night.
How about you, what did you do and how is the weather out your way? When do you get to vote?
I don't envy you with all the political calls and ads. Those sometimes turn me off. Indiana doesn't vote until May. It will be interesting to see who is still in the race by then.
ReplyDeleteI am loving this mild winter! We've had a little snow, but not enough to use the snow shovel. Got to love that!
Enjoy your Monday!
All the political rhetoric gets old after awhile, and I had the negativity. But I do vote and think it is important. We are having beautiful weather here in Phoenix, in the high 60's during the day. This weekend my Prescott daughter came down to visit, so we went out to eat and saw a movie. Then she spent a lot of time with her son who lives with me. So it was a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteVoting is a privilege but I get tired of the media saturation. 24/7 is just too much time to fill!
ReplyDeleteSince we switched from a land line to cell phones only, we don't get those annoying political calls. ;-) Now if I could just find a way to get rid of the political ads on TV.
ReplyDeleteIt was very warm Friday (70), but it's cooled off since then (50's) ... but for January, that's not bad at all.
My weekend was pretty uneventful. Took a new van to DD's for them to check out (they're thinking about trading in their old van for a new one). Attended church and had lunch afterwards with DD & family and her dad & his wife. Other than that, we watched a couple of movies and I quilted. Exciting, huh? Seriously, though, it was a great weekend.
We our next! I live in South Carolina so the candidates are coming here after they leave you. Our TV ads have started, and there's a debate scheduled for next week I think. The phone calls will come closer to promary election day.
ReplyDeleteI wrote a blog post about it just last week. The primary system and politics in general has gotten so mean and long. It, unfortunately, has become a big turn off for many Americans, including our young people. I don't think there's much respect left for any officeholder.
As for weather: it's been really lovely here! I've golfed and been out as much as possible. We usually have mild winters here (one of the reasons I love living here) but so far this winter has been exceptionally mild.
I have no clue when we get to vote. I always dislike all the calls and coverage. I wish the money could be used in a better way! Our weather has been very nice, we were around 80 degrees! I working on my low carb and so far so good.
