Life is not always clear and easy to figure out. So grab a cup of coffee and your bifocals and let's see what we can see.

One of these things is not like the other! One of these things is just not the same.

In fact 2 things are not the same. Can you tell what it is?  Well, it's Wednesday and there is no Hodgepodge. Joyce from This Side of the Pond has a very busy week and did not have time to create the Hodgepodge. Joyce, the fact that you have been doing this for over a year, and this is your first week off, well, you deserve the rest.
Here is the second thing:

No, there is no problem in the marriage here! There is a problem with the rings!  After almost 40 years of marriage ( July is our Anniversary), the rings need some work done on them.  The prongs are worn, the settings are weak, the rings are too big.  I feel really naked without them.  I have not taken them off except to get them cleaned in all this time.  I even had surgery with them on! There was hospital tape over them to keep them on my finger and the hand stayed elevated to combat swelling.  In the old days, when you had surgery all jewelry had to come off. I kept them on.

My rings are a symbol of our promise to each other.

The engagement ring is a promise to be his wife and to stand by him.
The wedding ring is a continuation of that promise, in sickness and in health, for better and for worst, for richer and poorer, from this day forwarded, unto death do us part.

The ruby wrap has 2 rubies (the month we were married) and then little diamonds around the bigger diamond.
All 3 together mean Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow. A symbol of us. It's when our story began. I love my rings.  I miss my rings.  I hope to have them back Saturday.  They promise to take good care of them. They better!!!!

On a different topic, my heart goes out to all those in Texas who have been caught in the tornadoes that took place yesterday. The videos and pictures that have been all over the news show such destruction. My prayers are with you all.

  1. Beautiful rings.

I couldn't believe what I was seeing on the Weather Channel yesterday. Even though we have tornadoes here - frequently this time of year, I've never seen one personally (nor any live coverage) ... I've seen the aftermath, but the coverage yesterday gave me a new appreciation for the destructiveness of tornadoes.
